Freshwater
- 85 gallon aluminum fresh water tank
- Spectra 17 GPH dual pump water maker (17 amps while running both pumps)
- Shurflo 3.8 GPM pressure pump (new Dec '02) and accumulator tank
- Manual freshwater pump in galley
Hot Water
- IsoTherm 11 gallon water tank (new August '00)
This tank can be heated by propulsion engine heat, shore power, or the ARDIC diesel fired boiler
This tank
is well enough insulated to provide a warm shower after 24 hours of no heat input
The Ardic boiler can warm 50° ambient water to a hot shower
temperature in just 25 minutes - HOT showers every morning!
Toilets/Holding Tanks
- Forward head has a La Vac toilet (new June '00) plumbed to 30 gallon holding tank in bow
- Aft head has the factory installed manual toilet plumbed directly overboard
Heating
- ARDIC 091DM hot water/forced air (16,000 BTU)
The Ardic diesel fired boiler, mounted in the engine room, heats water which flows to a water/air exchanger mounted in the main cabin. There are forced air outlets in the galley, main cabin, and the forward head.
The ARDIC heater was rebuilt in September 2004 with a new fan motor and diesel pump
Ventilation / Cooling
We have spent two full summers in the Sea of Cortez where it is above 95 degrees for months at a time. The Caliber 40 is the best ventilated boat we have spent any time on.

Storage
We have spent up to six weeks at sea or anchor without replenishing supplies. We have never come close to filling all the storage available in the Caliber 40.
