GALLEY
Sink
We installed a
custom stainless sink before we took delivery of Mirador.
Stove
We installed a Force 10 3-burner glass window stove in October 2001. The oven contains a custom "pizza stone" that ensures heat is distributed evenly throughout the oven.
Propane
Mirador has two 10-pound propane bottles stored in the propane locker in the aft part of the cockpit. We get about 32 to 36 days of use out of each bottle.
Refrigerator
We installed a new Technautics Cool Blue refrigeration system in February 2009. The heart of the system is an BD535compressor with electronic controls that allow it to operate at various RPMs from 1500 (3 amps @ 13.8V) to 3500 RPM (9 amps at 13.8V). . The system is air cooled with a large condenser mounted under the port settee. I also added 4" of insulation to the bottom of the ice box and 1" on all sides. There is an adjustable divider between the freezer and refrigeration section of the ice box. The freezer section can be kept at 10º F but that makes the refrigeration section a little too cold.
Barbeque
The large Force 10 barbeque can be mounted on the port pushpit for outdoor cooking. This is especially useful during the summer in the tropics when you really don't want to heat the interior of the boat. The barbeque is easily removed to be stored in the lazarette while underway. The propane line for the barbeque retracts into the stern of the boat.
Microwave
A 750 watt microwave is mounted above the stove.
